Blessings & grace!
Welcome back to classes & such. I hope you had a wonderful and
refreshing break! If you traveled, you're back in time for the cold snap,
eh? Looks like snow.
Our U2charist on the Thursday before break was awesome, as
expected. Though the turn-out was smaller than I'd hoped, we had folks from
Boulder & from Littleton. $61 was raised for Heifer International, which
provides starter animals for flocks & farms to people in the poorest areas
of the world. Thanks to Matt Rogers for another outstanding PowerPoint!
Hey, check out https://www.lighttounite.org/ as World AIDS
Day approaches. Cool site, and a donation is made for each candle lit.
"God & Coffee" break from 9:15-10:15 am tomorrow, Nov 29, in the
CSU library lobby. It's a chance to chat with the chaplain & each other.
We've had some great conversations about war, peace, Jehovah's Witnesses,
U2, families, roommates, politics, scandals, and lots of other stuff in
God's universe. I'd love to see you!
Tomorrow night, Nov 29, Kelley McIntyre will give the homily at
our 7 pm student-led celebration of the Holy Eucharist at St Paul's! In
2007 the hope is to have a music group (guitar, keyboard, bass) to lead our
Wednesday night services. Do you have a musical gift to share?
This Saturday we've been invited to the "Funky Formal" at the
Lutheran Campus Ministry center (805 Shields). 8 pm - midnight. Please let
me know if you can bring some food goodies - I told Pastor Connie I'd let
her know. '70's dress is encouraged! DJ & dancing. The more the merrier
This Sunday at 5 pm we'll have dinner at St Paul's, and the plan
is to make Christmas cookies as we visit. Hope you can come by!
And spread the word - our Exam Week Open House run from 7 - 11
pm on Sunday, Dec 10, through Wed Dec 13. A QUIET place to study, a
separate room for conversation, and an open church. Wi-fi too. Everyone is
welcome! So if the dorm, apartment or library ain't cuttin' it, come on by.
The folks of St Paul's are wonderful about bringing home-baked goodies by,
and we keep the coffee hot.
In 2007 we're planning on making the Sunday dinners a weekly
thing, with bible study. I've got a 6-week program on the themes of faith
found in the music of the Beatles. It's always fun to approach the
scriptures from a different perspective, making new connections between the
Testaments & Life As We Know It.
I've a attached a couple notes on opportunities for you. Kanuga
is a beautiful place, if you're looking for a summer position. And just in
case the idea of an internship is calling you, there's info from the
national office of the Episcopal Church.
I know this is a busy time as final approach. Please know
you're in my prayers and in the prayers of the congregation of St Paul's.
Enjoy the snow!
In Christ,
Rob+

A message from Camp Kanuga:
From: Brad Thompson [mailto:brad.thompson at kanuga.org]

Subject: Camp Kanuga
Every winter, camps begin looking for highly qualified staff members. For a
variety of reasons, this becomes more difficult every year and I hope to
reach new candidates already involved in the Episcopal Church.
Camp Kanuga is an Episcopal for boys and girls ages 7-15 in the mountains of
Western North Carolina. Camp Kanuga is sponsored by Kanuga Conference
Center, one of the world's most prominent Episcopal centers. We offer a
variety of programs including rock climbing, campouts, archery, sports, arts
and crafts, Kanuga Community (Christian exploration), music, and much, much
more!
We are seeking highly motivated counselors, male and female, to serve our
wonderful campers in the summer of 2007. Counselors are paid $220/week plus
room/board and an opportunity for a 10% end-of-summer bonus. Counselors live
with campers, instruct program areas and plan special events. The ability to
have fun, change lives and get paid all at the same time...that is a camp
counselor!
Counselors should be age 18+ and interested in working in a Christian
community. Previous camping or youth program experience is a plus.
Several senior staff positions are available for students age 21+ with
relevant experience: Program Director, Head Female Counselor, Head Male
Counselor, Waterfront Director, Adventure Facilitator and Chaplain. Students
serious about a future in ordained ministry are encouraged to consider our
Chaplain position.
You can download applications and find out more information at
www.campkanuga.org <http://www.campkanuga.org/> or inquire with Brad
Thompson, Director of Camp Kanuga at brad.thompson at kanuga.org or
828.692.0077 ext. 279.
Camp Kanuga is for everyone so please think of how racial and ethnic
diversity enriches our camp community and each camper's experience.
Yours in Christ,
Bradley F. Thompson
