The Young Adult Festival at General Convention

The Young Adult Festival is the Young Adult Presence at the General
Convention. It is a

conference for young adults to come together in prayer and reflection to
enrich their lives

in Christ.

 

The design team has put together a very intense schedule of events including
two general

sessions daily, workshops, and nightly Compline. The sessions focus on our
spiritual

life, our life and the church, and our life and the world.

 

The workshops focus on various types of prayers and practices including body
prayer,

Lectio Divina, Prayer Path, yoga, Anglican Prayer Beads, spiritual knitting,
and prayer

through music.

 

Although there are many activities going on, many young adults are also
finding their

place at General Convention, both in attending hearings or committees and
legislative

sessions. Many participants have been overheard saying how cool it is to see
the

legislation and convention.

 

We round off the night with Compline, in which all at convention are invited
to attend. It

is being held at Trinity Church. During Compline, we are exploring different
types of

music, starting with Taizé, followed by Ionic or Celtic music, and then
hymns played in

contemporary style.

 

There are over 150 participants at the Young Adult Festival. It is being
hosted by the

National Church office in New York with a design team from around the
states.

 

The Young Adult Ministry Network (YAM Network) was established following GC

2003 to create a network to support young adult ministries and their
leaders. Young

adults are defined as 18-30 year olds. The YAM Network will be holding a
network

meeting in Denver this September.
