Lenten Meditation Guide

Sometimes living in academia is like living in a wilderness. It can be
exciting, invigorating, misleading, lonely, or even a struggle to survive.
The survivor, the one who has waded through these experiences, can emerge a
stronger disciple of Jesus Christ.

Writers contributing to this series relate to campus ministry as students,
faculty, campus ministers, and church leaders. These writers-coming from a
variety of American Baptist campus ministries-all know something of the
experiences one may have in the wilderness challenge.

Lent, the forty days preparation for Easter, gives us the opportunity to
reflect on scripture and wilderness experiences as we deepen our commitment
to the God who loves us beyond our comprehension. For the hurried student,
each day's devotion has a focused text with the devotional reading.

To receive a free daily e-mail meditation, please send an email with your
e-mail address as the subject line and the words "join meditations" in the
body of the e-mail to gwilliams at episcopalchurch.org

Faith in 3D

Faith in 3D was a youth event that was co-sponsored by the Presbyterian
Church USA, the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and the Episcopal Church and
took place at Disney World from January 13-16, 2006. Faith in 3D explored
what we have in common as Christians and how we celebrate our differences.
We also took advantage of the Disney Youth Education Series where young
people can experience life issues, world cultures, and future ministry
opportunities. Faith in 3D was our first ecumenical youth event! Read more

 Short-term Domestic Internship Program

*	Ever considered engaging God's mission in a different part of the
USA?
*	Thought that year-long mission internships were too long to consider
seriously?
*	Would you like to make a difference by giving service to people in
need?

If you answered "yes" to any or all of these questions, you should consider
Short-term Domestic Internship Programs for Young Adults (SIP), offered in
eight week terms throughout the year.

Service period in 2006:
* May 31-July 25, 2006:  Apply by March 29th
* Sept. 20-Nov. 14: Apply by August 4th
* January 10-March 6: Apply by November 27th
* March 21-May 15: Apply by January 26th
* May 30-July 24: Apply by April 16th

Applicants should be at least 18 years of age, have some workplace and
service experience, and be active members of the Episcopal Church. Persons
with disabilities are encouraged to apply but not every site is equally
accessible. Participants will be asked to raise $500 from local sources to
contribute to a travel and program pool. Read

Domestic Internships
You can be involved in mission and never leave the United States. There are
plenty of opportunities to step outside your comfort zone and broaden your
horizons domestically. On our website you will find a list of internships
all over the country. They are diverse in location and type of work, so find
the one that best suits your needs. Visit the
<http://www.episcopalchurch.org/49662_51236_ENG_HTM.htm>  website.

International Mission Opportunities

The idea of a young adult service corps was first conceived and articulated
by the Standing Commission on Anglican and International Peace with Justice
Concerns. This Commission presented a resolution to the 73rd General
Convention of the Episcopal Church (2000).

The Convention, reflecting a revitalized commitment to young people,
responded by establishing and funding the "Episcopal Youth Corps." It has
since been renamed as the Young Adult Service Corps (YASC). YASC is a
concern of the Office of Anglican and Global Relations (AGR), and is
coordinated particularly by the Domestic and Foreign Missionary Society
(DFMS), in consultation with the Office of Ministries with Young People, the
Episcopal Partnership for Global Mission (an extended network of autonomous
Episcopal sending agencies, who work together as EPGM), and the Colleges and
Universities of the Anglican Communion (CUAC).

What is important for you to gather from that barrage of offices is that
YASC was brought together by a diversity of Episcopal voices concerned with
peace, youth, and mission, and that it is specifically administered by the
Missions Office at the Episcopal Church Center.

Dozens of young adults have taken the opportunity to work alongside other
Anglicans all over the world. Check out YASC.
