Hi there!
"God & Coffee" last Thursday was super! There were 7 of us around a table
in the Library lobby, talking about everything from majors to music,
Jehovah's Witnesses to weather. If you missed it, try to come next month.
Thursdays @ 9:30 AM seem to be a good time. We'll set the date soon. Maybe
I can pass the hat to help cover my $17 parking ticket. :-)
We also talked about the following, which a reprint from last week. When it
came up that being an Episcopalian at CSU was "not cool," ("Excuse me?" I
exclaimed in surprise.) I asked if folks wanted to get together w/ other
Episcopal college/university students. Several expressed interest. I can
drive - and I gotta know TODAY if you're interested. Please call/email
ASAP:
Need a break around the end of March? Province VI Campus Ministry of the
Episcopal Church will hold a retreat near Spearfish, SD (in the Black Hills)
March 31 - April 2. Students from several universities & colleges will be
there. Jeremiah 17:7-8 is the scripture for the weekend.. "like a tree
planted by the water". The Rev. Linda Kramer, who is the Executive Director
for Borderlands Ranch (www.borderlandsranch.org
<http://www.borderlandsranch.org/> ), and Ben, who works with her, will be
the keynote speakers. Linda practices both Lakota and Celtic heritage and
spirituality and is the adopted daughter of a former Episcopal priest and
Lakota elder. They will introduce those attending to some of the Lakota
ways of worship, their spirituality, with a tie into our Baptismal promises.
There's lots of free time and recreation built into the time. I've never
been, but I'm told that it's both fun and meaningful. If you're interested
please let me know ASAP - I'm supposed to send in a number by Feb 21 if
we're going. I can drive - and there will be very little, if any, cost to
you. To check the facility see www.spfcanyou.com

Under the title of "don't forget".
Next Tuesday, PANCAKE SUPPER here @ St Paul's. It's Shrove Tuesday after
all. 5 - 7 PM. $3/per.
The day after is Ash Wednesday - Holy Eucharist with (optional) Imposition
of Ashes at 7 AM, Noon & 7 PM.
Saturday, March 4, Taize workshop w/ Brad Berglund. The Taize monastic
community was founded in France during WWII, in the town of the same name.
Though Roman Catholic in its roots, it is now an ecumenical community. I
believe more than 1 million guests, most of them young adults (18-30), come
to the community each year. The focus is worship in a meditative mode, with
music composed by the brothers. It is simple chant, very beautiful. We've
been using it here at St Paul's at the Wed 7 PM service for several months.
Check: http://www.taize.fr/en The workshop on March 4 will be an
introduction, a music class, a history and experience of life at Taize. Note
that you DO NOT need to be a musician to attend - if you are, though, please
bring your instrument. The flyer is posted on our parish web site. Cost:
$15 / $5 student / FREE for folks from St Paul's.
Have a blessed week,
Rob+
