Late Advent greetings!
By now you are enjoying your semester break - I pray it is blessed in every
way! Whether you are visiting with family and friends, recreating in some
exotic locale, or indulging in a passion (like skiing, boarding or
tanning.), I trust that God will find you and bring the Messiah to you.
This next semester will find the campus ministries of St Paul's developing
and growing. We will continue our monthly dinners - on Dec 4th our cookie
baking & decorating was a ton of fun. The next night guest Neil Riley,
speaking on CS Lewis, was outstanding. Did you see the article in The
Collegian Dec 6? And if you didn't get a "Narnia" movie poster, please let
me know - I've got some left. (BTW, the movie is excellent!). The Exam
Week Open House was held Sunday-Wednesday last week, and I expect that to be
offered as needed in the spring. And our monthly "God & Coffee"
get-togethers will continue, as will off-campus Bible Study.
What would most help you and your spiritual life? I'd love to hear from
you.
Something came across my desk today that may be of interest: The Fund for
Theological Education has several offerings, including $1500 fellowships for
undergraduates exploring ministry. Check www.thefund.org
<http://www.thefund.org/> for specifics. To be eligible for the undergrad
grant you must:
* Be a current sophomore or junior w/ a 3.0 GPA or better
* Have an interest in exploring ordained ministry as a vocation
* Be a US or Canadian citizen
* Be under the age of 30
* Demonstrate leadership ability in your church or school community
There are also fellowships for students entering seminary. While this
might not be of use to you, say, next week, it might be something to
prayerfully consider for the longer term. I'd be delighted to tell you what
I know, and help you explore your sense of call.
God bless you in your Christmas festivities! I hope and pray yours is
absolutely superb.
Yours in the name of the Christ who comes among us,
Rob+
